Raumari Upazila (Kurigram district) with an area of 197.80 sq km, is bounded by Ulipur upazila on the north, Char Rajibpur upazila on the south, Assam State of India on the east, Char Rajibpur, Chilmari and Ulipur upazilas on the west. Main rivers are Brahmaputra, Jhingiram and Halhali (previous name Sonabhari); Madaidanga and Bheramara Beels are notable.
Roumari is located at 25.5625°N 89.8500°E. It has 26065 units of house hold. Raumari (Town) stands 86 km to the southwest of kurigram sadar. It consists of 2 mouzas. It has an area of 17.78 sq km. The town has a population of 16871; male 50.62% and female 49.38%; population density per sq km 849. Literacy rate among the town people is 38.8%. The town has one dakbunglow.
Raumari thana, now an upazila, was established in 1908. The upazila consists of 5 union parishads, 29 mouzas and 193 villages.
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 137040; male 49.34%, female 50.66%. Muslim 99.09% and others 0.91%.

Average literacy 16.5%; male 23.3% and female 10%. Educational institutions: college 6, high school 13, madrasa 35, government primary school 39, non-government primary school 50, community school 11, satellite school 9.
