Glanbrook community was formerly the Township of Glanbrook. It was amalgamated, together with the other municipalities of the Regional Municipality of Wentworth County to form the new City of Hamilton effective on January 1, 2001. Prior to Amalgamation with the City of Hamilton and Wentworth RM and the other towns and townships, Glanbrook itself was two seperate townships, Glanford on the western half, and Binbrook on the eastern half.
