Among the notables buried here are the Dyer family. The Patriarch, Samuel Dyer (I) born in 1787 is followed by his son, the Rev. John Dyer ("the snowshoe itinerant) and Johns sons, Samuel Dyer (II) and Elias Dyer. Probate Judge Elias Dyer was murdered in his courtroom in the Lake County Courthouse in Granite, CO. Several years later, the Dyers rode up to Granite in a wagon and dug up his body. They traveled to Castle Rock and it lies buried in Cedar Hill to this day. Rev. John Dyer is listed in the Skiing Hall of Fame as well as one of Colorado's founders whose stained glass image is enshrined in the state capital.
