When this pond was totally surrounded by cleared fields, it was named Grassy pond as it sat in a bit of a dell in the middle of a hay field. When the farm fields grew over, it became "lost." In the 80s and 90s when new houses went up off Nagog Hill Road, it became a fairly well known spot for ice skating in the winter.
