Lexmed was founded in 2006 when it purchased the assets of BEC Laboratories (founded in 1980) which had expanded from 615 Front Street to the 25,000 sq. ft. former Island Woodworks and Buick dealership building at 705 Front Street in 1994.

23,662 sq. ft building was constructed in 1947 on 1.41 ac. site.
