Owens Corning is one of the companies that makes Toledo the Glass City. Established in 1938, by Corning Glass of Corning, New York and Owens-Illinois of Toledo to experiment in the production of fiberglas fiber, Owens Corning has grown into a global Fortune 500 company which produces the famous PINK home insulation, as well as roofing, siding and composite products. In 2009, Owens Corning had annual sales of $4.8 billion, and 16,000 employees, in 28 countries on five continents.

In 1996, Owens Corning relocated all 1,200 headquarters employees from the highrise Fiberglas Tower to their new three story headquarters building designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates. The 450,000 sq. ft. building has been described as a skyscraper on its side. The campus style layout is said to foster employee interaction which was not possible in the former highrise structure.

The main building is arc shaped with an undulating wall along the Maumee River. On the streetside, a red tower suggests either a Mayan temple, a ship's funnel or the Owens Corning Logo. The site features a 275 seat auditorium, 400 seat dining facility, health and fitness center, medical center and credit union as wall as walking trails, exercise stations, baseball field and a gazebo
