Saunders Island is the fourth largest of the Falkland Islands, lying north west of West Falkland. The island is run as a sheep farm.
The island has an area of 50.8 square miles (131.6 km2) and a has a coastline 66.4 miles long (106.8 km). It is about 13 miles (21 km) from east to west and almost that distance from north-east to south-west. The island consists of three peninsulas linked by narrow necks, and it has three large upland areas. The highest point, Mount Richards, is 457 metres (1,499 ft) high.
