Often referred to simply as 'Southeast,' and sometimes including the adjacent area of Bond's Path, this is a mainly rural and residental area, part of the Town of Placentia. Before the construction of the Argentia Access Road (Provincial Route 100), the road through Southeast Placentia (heading toward Colinet and the Salmonier Line) was the main route between Placentia and the capital, St. John's.

Named for the tranquil and picturesque Southeast Arm, which it boarders, Southeast enjoys a microclimate with relatively mild winters and warm summers. During the first half of the 20th century it was notable as a vacation destination, with at least four large hotels situated along the shores of the Arm.
