The Kohima Cathedral ('Mary Help of Christians Church') situated on a hill was consecrated in 1991. It is an architectural beauty, and has the Asia's largest Cross. The sitting capacity of the Hall is 1500; the stained glasses, the Naga style door, the paintings are worth seeing. The construction was largely financed by Japanese in memory of their countrymen who died in 1944 in Kohima. The prayer inscriptions are in both English and Japanese.
The cathedral is open to public during 9AM-4PM. The northern gate is generally closed; public can use either the rear (southern) or western gate.
