Dating back to the mid-1950's, the park originally served the employees and families from the adjacent General Dynamics facilities. The original park included three tennis courts, a baseball diamond and several indoor facilities. The park grounds were razed after the plants closed in order to make way for a City soccer complex, which opened in 2008.
