Kottanthara is a small place generally called till “Sabeth Church” towards west of Edathara, not the west of Kalanjoor Temple. From the end of Kottanthara towards west starts “Karadi Para”. Once these areas were Forest like and many wild animals specially Karadi (Bears) and wild pigs were plenty. Now there is no “Karadi” but Para (rocks) can still be seen as evidence. How the name Kottanthara derived is not clear. May be, this place, as a whole is a dry & plain land and both – north & south - covering paddy fields in slopes. Once there was a ” Kave” too with prefix Kottanthara. “Kulam” is also an added part of it. The Kulam may be a part of a temple earlier in Ambalathum Kala. There is a church too. Inhabitants are mostly good people and cooperative. In short, a beautiful, natural place, with a sign of rapid growth. – Johnny - johnvarghe@gmail.com
