Union Pier Terminal (UPT) is one of PortCharleston's dedicated breakbulk and RO-RO cargo terminals. A recent terminal redesign has significantly increased the open storage area and improved traffic flow into and out of the facility. It is also home to the Port of Charleston's Passenger Cruise Terminal.

The northern end of the terminal has been selected to house Charleston's new cruise terminal, which is expected to open in late 2012. Following the opening of the new cruise facility, more than 30 acres on the terminal's southern end would be redeveloped for non-maritime use as specified in the Union Pier Concept Plan.
