Coquina Key Shoal runs from the junction of Pinellas North-South channel and Pinellas East-West channel northward to Little Bayou.

The shoal contains numerous seagrass beds, excellent for snorkeling and fishing. Boaters must beware of the treacherous sandy lip which runs the shoal's eastern side. A pole-platform or electric tiller is the suggested method of entry to the seagrass flats. Otherwise one should anchor and kayak/dinghy if further entry is desired. Access is best from Coquina Key Channel, which runs the inside length.
