In an area where sand-mining (for cement production, etc) was already common and so excavators were nearby and geologic conditions were predictable, authorities have been digging pits for mass-burial of 2010 Haiti Earthquake fatalities. Many graves are bodies-only pits. Some later pits co-mingle human remains with rubble of fallen buildings.
