The Transfiguration Cathedral is a monument of Russian architecture of the late XVI century. Currently it is part of the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve. The cathedral appeared in the XVI century on the site of the burnt wooden church of the Transfiguration of the Savior. In 1507-1511, a small pillarless Church of the Savior was built. It was erected on the grave of its founder, Abbot Euphemia. In 1594, the building of a large four-pillar cathedral was attached to this church, and the church was renamed the Euphemia chapel.
