The spacious, beautiful cathedral (1682-1699, and the first cathedral was built here in the 10th c.AD) is a much revered place for the whole Pskov region; it is the seat of the Metropolitan of Pskov and Velikiye Luki. Even in battle, the battle-cry of the Pskov people was "For the Holy Trinity!".

The cathedral Iconostasis and icons thereon mostly are of XVII-XVIII AD, yet some are considerably older (XV-XVI). There is also a revered St.Olga's Crucifix made in 1623 as a copy of an older one. A number of mush respected persons and holy people are buried within the cathedral. There are also excellent frescoes on the inner walls.
