The Naos or inner temple was built during the reign of Amenhotpe III and contained the so-called "Birth Room," where reliefs depicted the king's symbolic birth from the union of his mother Queen Mutemwia and the God Amun. In the center of the structure was located the bark shrine, refurbished in the reign of Alexander the Great. At the southernmost center of the Naos was the sanctuary (or holy of holies) built by Amenhotpe III.
