Maidum Pyramid and Mastaba Necropolis

Egypt / Bani Suwayf / El Wasta /
 pyramid, ruins, cemetery, archeological site

Meidum / Medum complex comprizes the pyramid of Snofru/Senefru (4th Dynasty), probably the works started under Huni, the last Pharao of 3rd Dynasty. It was the first attempt after the step pyramid of Sakkara to build a real pyramide but most probably the works stopped due to the collaps of the pyramid. So Snofru started the Bent Pyramid in Dahshur and later the Red Pyramid just a kilometer north of the Bent Pyramid.
Besides the pyramid, you find at Meidum several mastabas of the 4th Dynasty, the most known is the one of Nefermaat because of the famous relief of the "Geese of Meidum" that were found here and are to be admired at Cairo Museum.
