During the 1970s British Columbia Railway was building the Dease Lake Extension, projected to reach from Fort St. James to Dease Lake, BC, a length of 406 miles. Construction was halted on April 5, 1977, with rails in place to Jackson, MP 336, 148 miles short of Dease Lake. This remote logging camp was established by Northwood at MP 274, making this the furthest point the trackage was operated. Canadian National took over BC Rail in 2004, and provided service on this line until logging ended in July 2006.
