Large area of west Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Known for students and immigrant population hence many Halal food stores, excellent curry houses and cheap living costs. Incorporates much of the Nun's Moor, which has a covenant preventing establishment of licensed premises - therefore no pubs between the Leazes Inn (to the east on Barrack Road) and The Plaza (to the west on West Road).

Bordered to the south by Benwell, the border being West Road, to the North by Cowgate (Central Motorway, Stamfordham Road), North East by Spital Tongues (Richardson Road), North-West by East Denton/Westerhope (A1) and the City Centre to the East.
