Former beginning of the 1869 built Sag Harbor Branch of the LIRR, taking a southeasterly spur from here towards Eastport, and continuing to Sag Harbor. After the south side line of the LIRR was extended from Patchogue to Eastport, that became the main route to the east end, and then as far as Montauk after it was extended there in 1895. This section of the Sag branch between here and Eastport then became known as the Manorville Branch, it closed in 1949.
