Brookhaven is a multi-program national laboratory operated by Brookhaven Science Associates for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Six Nobel Prizes have been awarded for discoveries made at the Lab. Buildings were designed by Marcel Breuer and Max Urbahn.

Brookhaven was built on the former site of U.S. Army base, Camp Upton. Upton was the location where songwriter, Irving Berlin wrote "Oh! How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning". Today, Brookhaven has a staff of approximately 3,000 scientists, engineers, technicians and support staff and over 4,000 guest researchers annually.

  • Imagery's blurry, just like for allegedly decommissioned Shoreham nuclear power plant north of here. Strange, ininit?
  • Nah, standard for facilities dealing with nuclear research, particle acceleration, and the like. Check SUNY Stony Brook and you may see similar for the same reasons.
