The grade for this steel trestle bridge, on the Grand Trunk Pacific main line, was started in 1906 with service beginning on September 21, 1908. Amalgamation of the Grand Trunk Pacific and other lines in 1923 formed the Canadian National Railway, that still operates this line today. The workers who built this bridge had just completed contruction of Saskatoon's downtown traffic bridge. At the turn of the century, bridge construction was limited to this "steel truss" technique.
