During the Second World war this was a landing spot for war planes. Some of the concrete blocks still have the inscription "1942". Some of the places around this area are called "Beerangi Medu" (where Cannons were fired in war). Adjoining this site, on the Kadambur-Kayathar Road was "Rettai Aala Maram"(Twin Banyan Trees), a landmark.

  • aaro poi solligirango.kaytharla airpotay kadiyadhe.nambaadhingo.allan dubagur-ey.vartuma.salamualaikum.
  • Airport is inbetween kayathar and kadambur.exactly in melakuttuppanaai.the operation is going on.
  • All the people in the surrounding area (almost about 6 villages, each with about 500 families)are fully involved in Agriculture. That is the only source for them. Without which they cannot survive. Again the surrounding area consists about 10 ponds. In the recent times when the Governemnt is totally concentrating on Water sources and agricultures through so many shcemes/ subsidies, where is the question of expanding the aerodrome, which was built during the british period. Also the whole aerodrome is in a dilapidated condition and whcih canot be used as such. With in 1/2 KM circumferne there are thousands of trees (magoes, coconut, Maathulai, Sappotta, Nelli, Guava (koyya) and so on)
  • There are more space in between Kayathar and kangai kondan (left and right to NH7) which is not arable (not possible to carryout agriculture, whcich can be made use of, if required. So, please don't make the people to strugle for their sustenance, cut the trees, close the ponds, spoil the whole nearby environment.
  • Dear All, As per my view, airport is good option for kayathar, since our poor village people doesn't have proper exposure. Once we get the airport, then world view will be turn to this place. Once airport facility is here, I can dream of colleges, Scholl, business, trade etc. in my home town. This will give more benefit to the people.. I know the greenness of the place and in my childhood I used to play in the lovable environment place too. But if we make airport (I heard that it will be army space) .In such a case I am strongly denying this project. If there is a big revolution comes in my village, I will be the first person to welcome the projects.. I hope my dear youth and dynamic young generation will accept and encourage the projects. All the best!! I love My home town and will contribute for the same.
  • It should be known that the proposal is not for a air port, which is what known to some people. it is for air force as in Sulur, Coimbatroe and Trichi. It will be used only by airforce people. And the entire local area, as per the communications in different media, about 2500 acres of arable land (under cultivation) will be taken by the Govt and total agri base will be wasted. It will be a hard time for the people, who are living nearby. Please all of you give your objections, if u feel what is given above is right, after confirming different sources.
  • THIS IS GOOD IDEA AIRPORT IS COMING ON THE PEOPLES ARE DEVELOPED FOR THE LIFE AND CHANGE
  • Kadambur in particular has been a neglected place in all the developmental activities for the past 50 or so years. Hence, the proposed Air Force Strip would bring in some growth potential within itself. Hence, let us all welcome this whole-heartedly.
  • This is good idea air force is coming in kayathar, but please do this project cannot affect the poor people..bcoz they are believing only agriculture..they dont know other sources..
