Former Wendy's restaurant until 2008, now converted into a mediterreanean restaurant. Opened in August 2009 by Lebanese immigrant Karam Abdo.

“Ya Halla, Ya Halla, Ya Halla!”

In the Arabic speaking world these are the first words that you’ll hear when coming into a friend or family member’s home. It’s a greeting meaning “Welcome” and “make yourself at home”. With that, we want you, our friends and family, to come on in and make yourselves at home. Our restaurant is your restaurant.

A few decades ago Karam Abdo came to the United States from Lebanon for the available opportunities. With that, he settled in Toledo, Ohio and was hired in at General Motors Powertrain. He would later marry his lovely wife Maha and together they have three children; Mo, Maher, and Malak. Karam always had a love for his mother’s homemade style Lebanese food. She would wake up early in the morning just to prepare the evening’s dinner. From picking the plants from the garden to running around the village to wait for the butcher’s freshest meats, she would collect what was needed to feed him, his seven siblings and his father. He learned a lot from his mother and brought these cooking techniques with him from overseas.

In August of 2009, he set out to establish Ya Halla Restaurant. With the help of his wife and three children, Karam bought an old Wendy’s fast food restaurant, stripped it down to it’s core, and established a fine-dine Mediterranean restaurant. With some hard work, the atmosphere was turned into an elegant and relaxing one, where you are free to sit back and relax.

Using only the finest of ingredients, the freshest of vegetables, and the most tender of meats, we have strived to make the most delicious and affordable meal. From the freshly made creamy Hummus, to the freshly prepared Tabouli Salad, to the freshly cut Shish Kabob tenderloins, everything prepared in our kitchen is fresh and from scratch, homemade just like Karam likes.
