Opened in 1932 and originally known as the Wardman, this Art Deco theatre once seated 1,000. It has since been subdivided into eight separate screens. Stairs next to the concession stand (the orignal has since been removed) once took moviegoers to the upper balcony seating, an Egyptian-themed lounge, restrooms, and snack bar. It was briefly owned by Pacific Theatres during the '70s, then operated by the Pussycat Theatres.

  • The 1st photo above, taken in 1989, shows a closed Pussycat Theatre (Wardman is still visible on the marquee). The theatre was damaged during the 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake.
