Aladja Imaret Mosque (Thessaloniki)

Built in 1484, according to the inscription over its entrance, this mosque was named Aladja (=colorful) from the colored bricks that formed diamond-shaped decorations on its (now destroyed) minaret. It also functioned as a poorhouse (imaret) offering food and bed to the poor and the strangers.
It underwent major repairs in 1819 and recently, and it is now used as an art exhibition hall.
