  • What a load of garbage! ...The "Rewa" started life as the" Alice E Leigh" Built by the Whitehaven Shipbuilding Co, Cumbria UK. The 3,000 Ton, four-masted steel barque was sold to a N.Z. company in 1921 to become the largest sailing ship on the N.Z. register. Renamed "Rewa" she voyaged to N.S.W. & London before the speed of steam saw her laid up off Northcote point in Auckland. In 1930 she was towed to Moturekareka Is to become a breakwater. A storm swung her out of position and she ended up scuttled within the bay where she lays today. The ships figerehead is at the Devonport, Auckland naval museum. The ships Wheel & Binnnacle is at the Whangarei Cruising club Neaby Cities: Auckland & Whangarei...............nowhere the three mentioned above?
