Income assistance division

This was the former site of the Western Hotel, a two-storey hotel built in 1903 by hotelier James Flanagan. At the time, it was located on the corner of 21st St. and 2nd Ave., but in 1908 it was hoisted off its foundation and rolled across the alley to this spot. The prized corner location then became the site of the Bank of Hamilton.
