Remetea Milk Powder Plant is one of the first plants built in Romania (1954) and was the only one of this type. The First Milk Powder Plant in Romania was opened in 1938 by Abraham Meerbau in Cernauti with machines imported from Denmark(cf. czernowitz.ehpes.com/bio/bio-weissmann.html ).

In the '50's Milk Powder plants were built also in Belarus (ex-USSR): «OJSC 'Lepel Plant of Dairy Products'(1949)», «Enterprise 'Masloprom'(1951)», «OJSC 'Lida Milk Plant'(1952)» (cf. eng.lepelka.by, www.novmdk.by, www.moloko.lida.by ).
