"Piast" hotel (Opole)

Poland / Opolskie / Opole / ul. Piastowska

Northern tip of Pasieka island is called "Ostrówek". While whole Pasieka belonged to prince, this small part was property of the city. It laid just outside city walls, behind city gate located over a bridge to the east. City created merchandise storage area here, earning money. In 1823 current building was built here, at the time used for spedition. There was also another storage building and a port crane.
During communist times it was planned to destroy building and replace it with a grocery store. Fortunately it survived and since renovation in 2000 serves as a hotel.
