gatehouse, Grade II Listed (UK), haunted house / building
Also called "Queen Mary's Tower", Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587), was held prisoner by the 6th Earl of Shrewsbury and his wife Bess of Hardwick at both Sheffield Manor & Sheffield Castle, and her ghost is said by some to haunt the Turret House building.
The building is situated overlooking the Don Valley and has three storeys of two rooms. The stairs at one corner rises above the building onto the roof. This seems to have been designed as a viewing platform.
