Ethiopia's Posatl Adminstration was established in 1894, and joined the Universal Postal Union in 1908.

The head office of Ethiopia's postal service is located at the northeast corner, where Ras Desta Damtew Street connects to Churchill Road. Within the same building, in a separate section exists Ethiopia's Postal Museum. Founded in 1975, the museum houses a complete set of stamps printed in Ethiopia, beginning from the very first issue of 1894, which is known as the first Menelik issue.

  • I am trying to locate a package sent to Ethiopia as a gift, the last date of tracking was 24 Nov 14 where the package was delivered to BOLIO AIRPORT to be sent to final post office destination.   • The mail I send to my mother in Addis Ababa Tracking # EE 184638512CA . Has not yet arrived. I send it on September 09 and it is more than a month now. The Canadian office told me it will arrive with in one week and I paid three times the price. My family are going and asking them but they said, it is not here. It is a shame for the Ethiopian post office there is no any integrity in the day to day they should supposed to do it for there own country which they are paid. I made it that if the receiver doesn't get it to come back to me. It is truly a shame why they are creating this kind of evil act on the people whom the government higher them to serve. Even with the Derg many problems postal service never been an issue. People used to send money via mall before. No one is crazy will do that, at this time as there are many alternative but every one become an evil dower in Ethiopia this means. You can not trust any thing in that country any more. The same thing happen with my husband as well few months back send to his family a letter. The woman in the Canadian post office told me, they are difficulty people to deal with but she suggested me to make my parcel to be deliver to me with extra few dollar on the sending in case if it never reached to my mother. It is just a simple supplement medication I send her because I could not find some one who go to Ethiopia. What a disgrace your become as a nation I have no idea. Guys who use the Ethiopian postal service do not send any thing with out making sure you get it back if it is not deliver at list this part of the world you can fight it back and they will make sure you get it with all the system they set up. It is a hassle but better than loosing it. Otherwise they will pay you back what you spend. I tell you this are the kind of people who makes us not to go back to the place we are born and grew up. Just with simple mail you can not trust them.
