Former Giant Eagle grocery store that closed August 24, 2005. Before this store was Giant Eagle, it was a PayDay's more than 40 years ago. Giant Eagle moved to 800 McKeesport Road in Elizabeth Township (site of a former Shop 'n Save grocery store), and this unique building has been vacant since. When this store closed, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Giant Eagle officials had examined the site as a potential GetGo convenience store and gas station location.

  • Loved when it was Payday's. Giant Eagle buying it was the end. Giant Eagle thinks they are all that... and they are far from it. I was a kid when Payday's opened. It was really a grand place when it was Paydays. They took pride in the store. Giant Eagle? They're over-priced and pitiful. Randy McDaniels, TLC.
