This is the approximate footprint of the Baldwin Locomotive Works. Builder of over 75,000 steam and some diesel locomotives from the 1830's through 1956. Also build other heavy industrial components such as hydro electric turbines, water valves,ship propeller shafts, etc, etc. The large plant was split by the PRR's main line. The North (river side) part of the plant was mostly devoted to locomotive production was sold to Boeing Vertol in the 1960's and the "south" (land side) of the plant continued with other manufacturing until 1972 when it was closed and liquidated.

Only three building of the works remain, all on the south side of the plant. The executive office tower, the turbine test plant along the river and a long shop building along the railroad.
