Sheen Common (NT)

United Kingdom / England / Richmond /
park, recreation area / ground, forest

NT-owned, but managed by Richmond Council. The eastern end of the Common is managed as a recreation ground with two football pitches, a bowling green and a cricket square, with hard tennis courts available for public use. The bulk of the Common is rough woodland, managed to encourage wildlife - there are foxes and numerous bird species and there is a small seasonal pond. The wooded part of the Common remains peaceful, partly because visitors are attracted to the much bigger and better known Richmond Park, which it adjoins. The Bog Gate gives direct pedestrian access to Richmond Park.
