On 13 November 2015, as part of a series of attacks across Paris, several gunmen conducted a mass shooting at the Bataclan, killing about 100 and taking another 100 hostage. The American rock band Eagles of Death Metal were playing a sold-out concert to about 1500 guests at the Bataclan at the time. The police later stormed the theatre, killing at least two of the attackers.
