Huguenot Memorial Park

USA / Florida / Atlantic Beach /

Huguenot Memorial Park is the only park in Duval County that allows beach access by vehicle. The park was designated a Great Florida Birding Trail site by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission because of the outstanding habitat and the abundance of various kinds of birds. The park includes a critical nesting area for terns and shorebirds, and often hosts rarities like bar-tailed godwits. Birders are likely to spot gannets, loons, and sea ducks. The park is operated by the City of Jacksonville and fronts both the Atlantic Ocean and the mouth of the St. Johns River. The park's most prominant features are its high sand dunes and the rocky jetties that stretch out to sea, designating the entrance to the St. Johns River's shipping channel.
