The Park Building of 1896 is the oldest surviving steel-framed skyscraper in Pittsburgh. Architect George B. Post designed the building for steel industrialists David and William Park. Beneath the cornice, crouching Atlas figures appear to hold up the roof.
The building stands on the former site of the Pittsburgh Iron Foundry, which supplied artillery and projectiles to American forces in the War of 1812.
