A Christian Mission Hospital with a mission “Transforming lives, especially those affected by leprosy through holistic health and healing in the Spirit of Christ” was started by Dr Herbert Gass, Dr Robert G Cochrane, Dr Paul Brand (a world renowned Orthopaedician), Dr CK Job and Dr Margaret Brand (an Ophthalmologist). It was here that Dr Paul Brand perfected his reconstructive surgeries. It is also in this hospital that the MCR shoes (Micro Cellular Rubber) were first ever introduced. Today MCR shoes are used in many disease conditions especially the hypoaesthetic foot of leprosy, diabetic and arthritic patients.

  • I stayed at the hospital last January. The staff were all wonderful and dedicated to their work. The patients who sadly had many problems were very well cared for and treated with great kindness. I intend to visit again. Beryl.
