Used to be Long Pond. Then some realtors got together and decided they could sell more Lakefront property than Pondfront property. Drew a lot of families from Arlington, Belmont, Somerville, Waltham, Watertown, Cambridge, and Charlestown during the 1920s through the 1940s to summer in the cottages. Post war saw a lot of tear-downs or rebuilds of lots for year-round habitation. In 1990s and early 200s, some of the larger lots saw tear-downs/remodelling to produce some stunningly attractive, large homes.
