  This temple is an ancient temple of around 5,600 years old. The Prathishta of this temple is "Kiratha Moorthi". Sava disguised as Kiratha in front of Arjuna while he was doing 'Thapas" for obtaining "Pasupathastra" from the Supreme Lord Siva. There is also a "Navagraha" temple in the same temple compound which is the largest Navagraha temple in South India.
