USCG Station Marathon is a small boat search and rescue station in the US Coast Guard's 7th District, Sector Key West. Established in the 1800’s as a seasonal US Government outpost, the station was eventually crewed by a Coast Guard Detachment from USCG Base Miami. A permanent station was not established until June 25, 1965 utilizing a houseboat for accomodations and a permanent land based station was built at mile marker 48 in August of 1968.

Today Station Marathon responds to 300 Search and Rescue cases and conducts 500 Law Enforcement Boardings a year and is a key partner with the Marathon Turtle Hospital. Each year the station's crew assists the Hospital staff in releasing Sea Turtles back to the wild and also recovers injured or sick turtles reported by Mariners. Coast Guard Station Marathon conducts 20 release missions a year.
