The "Cour de Cassation" is one of the high courts of France. The elegant premises of its library contain 45,000 works including 12,000 pre-1800, 160 current periodicals, 2000 photographs, 30 incunables. It is located in a wing of the Palais de Justice -- the St. Chapelle and Conciergerie are nearby -- worth a visit while you are wandering through the era of St. Louis and wondering who really "won" the Revolution...

The present library largely survived the fire which destroyed most of the building during the Commune. The collection dates to 1708, and includes collections of various magistrates of the Cour, droit romain, droit coutumier, droit canon, droit administratif, jurisprudence; also, "recueils de coutumes, d'arrêts des parlements et du Conseil du roi, d'actes royaux".
