This Village in Past Surrounded by Palm Trees. The Leaves of the Palm trees were Used for weaving the roof of Huts ( see sample Image ). In Tamil the Palm Leaves are Called as " Olai ". Hence this village Got the Name " Olaipaadi " and Now Shortly Abbreviated as " Olapaadi "

  • I'm Idhaya Chandran. Nomenclature for Ollapadi Or Olaipadi. The living land next to PANAI LAKE ( PANAI YERI ), was used palm leaves (OLAI) for construction and domestic purpose. So, then it was named as Olaipatti or Olaipadi.
