This private cemetery of immigrants from Russia was donated by Vasili Kondratovich Popoff, who acquired land east of town for his ranch. He had over 1000 acres. When the city of Ensenada expanded, nearly all of his land was taken by government. When a large city cemetery was planned on some of his confiscated land, he insisted that a section be given back to his people (Spiritual Christian Pryguny : goo.gl/YKyRMb ) as a private cemetery. Size of cemetery = 0.36 acres (0.14 hectares). This cemetery was very costly for the Popoff family, who are buried here with other families from Russia named Bibayoff, Chapluk, Egoroff, Fedoroff, Filatoff, Kotoff, Pabloff, Popoff, Rudometkin, Samaduroff, Samarin, and several unknowns (graves not marked).
