This packing house was originally built for the Santiago Orange Growers Association at the beginning of WWI. Villa Park Orchards purchased and later moved into the complex to expand their bustling packing operations. By 1981, they sold and vacated their original packing house located in Villa Park and made this their center of operations. Although VPOA left Orange in September 2006, the packing house is one of two operational packing houses left in Orange County. Walk-in customers can still buy fresh fruit here.

The packing house is now owned by Chapman University and a 400-bed dormitory is planned to be built somewhere on the property.
