The jewel of the collection painting by Caravaggio "The Taking of Christ" got stolen on July 29 - 31, 2008. Museum did not provide right conditions to such masterpiece.(Alarms, personal, Window bars, humidity controls and so on). Due absence of money from government, and inability to earn money on its own by exhibiting and attracting viewers. Odessa residents highly disappointed and raged.
