Lying on the hills of Western Ghats, Periya is a beautiful and remote area of Wayanad District in Kerala. It lies on the Mananthavady-Thalassery road and is around 50 km north-west of Mananthavady.
Periya is an ideal weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. There is a residential tribal school (Pazhassi Raja Vidyalaya) run by Vanavasi Ashram Trust. Pazhassiraja's force and East India Company had fought a battle in the 18th century at the Periya pass.

Nearest airport is Calicut Airport, 77 km north. Kozhikode Railway Station is the major railhead nearby.
