  • short mountain bike trail. nice.
  • man i caught a huge catfish here one time. it looked mutated so i did not dare eat it. man it was huge.
  • Anyone heard about the ghost of Waterdog Lake? Rumor has it that a young boy went up there alone and never returned home. The "story" is that the ghost of Waterdog killed him. Obviously, others say the ghost is bogus.
  • Yes, there is a ghost. In the early 1980's a teenage boy drowned there. I don't remember his name, but he was a good friend of my younger brother and I remember my bro telling me about this kid's funeral and how his mother threw herself into the grave as they lowered her son's coffin in. They went to Hillsdale High in San Mateo.
  • This seems really wierd to me but for some reason I have had my brother on my mind so much that I felt a need to go back in time and try to find information about the day he drawned, and the only thing that i could find was this web page of peoples comments...that boy that you mentioned who went to Hillsdale High, and that drawned in Water Dog lake, was my brother. His name was Robert, but everyone called him Bobby (Bob). Bobby had many friends and one really good friend that I remember, was named Brian...is your brother Brian? Ive been trying to locate him jto see how he is doing and to say thank you for being there for us and my family..but have had no luck :( JUST TO CLEARIFY....My mother DID NOT jump into my brothers grave!
  • if anyone has any information on the ghost of waterdog please contact me....I'm thinking of visiting it but do not want to do so if it is truly haunted
  • Yes, Brian is my brother (I'm his sister). Sorry about the rumor about your mom. You remember that old game of "Telephone" well I heard the story 3rd hand from my mom so I'm sure some details were lost while others were exaggerated - I was away at college at the time and so not around to get more than 3rd hand info, plus it was 30 years ago. My brother ended up a homeless alcoholic. He's in the Sacramento area, but is no longer at his last known address, which was 2 years ago and before that I hadn't seen him in 20 yrs. But he does have 2 daughters, 1 just graduated from college/got married and the other is around 10 or 11. He's twice divorced and we could not be close due to his alcoholism and other issues. He's now homeless due to being one of the long-term unemployed who lost benefits. Sad. I was always sorry about the story of your brother & the drowning; I know his death affected my brother deeply and who knows if his alcoholism & other problems are partially rooted in that tragic even - there was our own dysfunctional family stuff, which was a big part, but still, losing a friend like that can only affect one negatively. Sorry for your loss.
  • The "ghost" story is probably a remnant of the crime committed by that lake in 1984 by serial killer J. S. Dunkle.
  • Sandy, I remember your family. My sister and I went to the same private (Catholic) school with you and your siblings in San Mateo. Bobby was a year older than me, he was a good guy. I was at the funeral and I can confirm nobody jumped in any graves that day. I've been to Waterdog many times before and after that, the place is NOT haunted. It only stirs up bad memories for me.
